Existing legacy cup designs were tired and dated. Consumer research revealed two weaknesses. Sometimes a cup would break at the threads of the main cup body when dropped. Also, sometimes cups would leak at the threads especially after many uses.

Solution

Two innovations

• An over-molded TPR “bumper” Integrated into the cap. This bumper protects the threads and softens the impact when a cup is dropped.

• A single dual purpose silicone part inside the cap is both a leak proof valve and a gasket to prevent leaks.

The bumper detail is a strong visual differentiator vs competition and makes the lid easier to remove by the parent because the rubber material acts as a grip. The shape of the cup is designed to be easy and comfortable for the child to grasp, and fully adaptable to printing or label decoration. 

The new design had to be adapted to Soft spouts, bite proof spouts, hard spouts and straw spouts. Also adapted to insulated and non-insulated cups, multiple sizes, licensed or non-licensed. All lids are interchangeable with all cups.
